Since you do not own a gun you would have to go to a range, shooting school or hunt club where they rent them or go with a friend who owns them. You need no license for that. You can not buy one unless you are legally admitted for permanent residence or become a US citizen.

@shilohtv I'm seriously considering trying to get a working visa to live there for a year and see if I like it. Can I shoot at any range as soon as Im in America or do I have to have some kind of license?

I wish I lived in the US, Englands gun laws are a complete joke to be honest. Infact you need a UKARA license to own an airsoft gun, but you can freely buy and air rifle or crossbow when your 18 without a license. This is more annoying because I've been into firearms since an early age but I have never been able to fire a real one and it pisses me off.
