  • Watch at 3:21 onwards for the rather jealous child rudely gesturing to the passengers in the observation car lol

  • 0:52 2 things that's gone in that clip the railway and now the golden ball yes the golden ball has been demolished

  • World Famous locomotive "Flying Scotsman" at 1m.40sec and 3min. thats literally at the end of the street where we lived. These films taken just around the time i was born! This railway was closed a few years later and minus the rails was our playground for many years after while i grew up.

  • Amazing! Now all we see are the clapped out rented DMU's on the Robin Hood line. Shame!

  • Totally agree. It could be a dedicated high-speed freight line today, or a dedicated ultra high speed passenger route. Low rulling gradient.

  • The 'Crosti' 9F's didn't have blinkers fitted after the reboilering. If you look properly at the video, there is no bottom door for the pre-heater, and when running as a 'Crosti' the exhaust came up the side just in front of the cab. The Scotsman special may be April 1964.

  • Another absolute rarity in this video is as-yet unrebuilt 92025, still with its Crosti heat exchanger system and without the smoke deflectors familiar to us on 92220 and 92203 etc. This dates the video at prior to "the early 60s", which is all I know about when the conversion was done.

These GC videos are wonderful as nostalgia trips and as documentary evidence. Quite honestly, I think the NRM would pay good money for a copy, if they haven't already done so.

  • You spell "Copyright" wrong there.

And you'd look very petty if you did.
