And yes, the order was basically made out of Germans and it was expelled for trying to go from Hungarian to Papal sovereignty.

@SilentShadowLT Fall of the Holy Roman Empire, what are you on about? There was an 'Interregnum' but that's it. And yeah I agree it wasn't a proper crusade, that's why I put the inverted commars around the word.

And I got the foundation bit wrong, but nevertheless they were based out of Germany and were German people, so the link to the Empire is blood related rather than political.

@SilentShadowLT No... the Teutonic Order was set up by the Holy Roman Empire to go on 'crusades' to the pagan Duchy of Lithuania, the aim to spread Christianity. The Teutonic Knights themselves would have hailed from the Holy Roman Empire. In Age of Empires 'Teutons' is probably just a substitute name for Holy Roman Empire.
