If bishops want to destroy or deface buildings, they should be given Tonka toys, Lego sets, & bits and pieces from Mattel. After that, they should be put in a nursery to do their worst, while the rest of us can get on with life in un-up-mucked churches. What stands out a mile is their utter lack of ability to appreciate either Catholic art or the theology behind it.

As a person I appreciate this haunting and complicated art; as a catholic person, though, I do perceive some reptilian and pagan, if not satanic, elements in this neogothic cathedral; it does inspire more disturbance than awe or piety; Jesus, Mary and the angels look like portraits of death and very menacing, entrapping, entrapped
