@rlee1976 You are so right, singer or not, we KNOW this lady can sing, indeed. I was lucky in having written her a long letter a couple of years ago and she responded with a wonderful (shorter but in English!) letter. This comforts me now she is gone. She will not be gone from the collective memory, that's for sure. What an artist, what a lady! Thanks for putting us back on the track!

both voices are incredible, but I will say della casa acted a bit more natural.
it's a pity that della casa didn't have as good relationship with Gueden :P

BRAVE- thats a partnership like Sutherland/Horne ....they are so fantastique.

I really like della Casa, but Rothenberger is a little bit :-) more magnificent IMO.

My first Arabella, when I was 13, was with Della Casa and Rothenberger at the Old Met. These two voices were sheer perfection in this music, separately or together. And they had a rare sister-like quality onstage. Unforgettable.

No one commented on Rothenberger...if u r a singer, u know this lady can SING! Jesus Christmas-those long phrases with such ease! She continues the tone to the very end and this is just a frickin lesson in breath support right here! I'm not a big fan of the "German sound," very white tone which tends to fall a bit flat, but both these singers don't sound that way...also the support is a bit forced, which here doesn't show!
