Shelley Albin was a beautiful, hugely charismatic babe, Lou's bigtime love at Syracuse University from 1961 on. Her parents hated and feared him (of course) as he was blatantly druggy and bisexual - and told her that if she went on dating him they'd pull her out of college. She inspired many of Lou's greatest works and yeah, this is one of his finest. The setting of the lyric matches his college lodgings. The weedy version on his first solo album is best ignored.
