  • How would you compare it to John Deere's 2700 or the Case 30 series? We are thinking of getting a 11 shank. The problem with the JD ripper is it doesn't chop up the stalks very well, leaves huge balls of dirt so its rougher than hell, and you need the big teeth because they are 30 inches apart. So going through the field the rest of the year you can feel where those have gone like ruts.

  • @teamzulu16 Wrote a long response and it wouldn't take it.... 870 is way better tool than the 30 series. Deere 2700's seem OK, but wouldn't want one after having the 870. Does a level and smooth job of plowing. Really like it. 11 shank would be fun to run. What you pull it with?

  • How do you like the 870? Does it pull hard?

  • The 870 is great tool. Best ripper we have owned. It doesn't pull too tough, we are pulling a 7-24" 870 just as well as we could pull a 530C with lead shanks.

  • we know these neighbors that have a John Deere 8530 duals in front and rear and they got the tractor chipped so it has extra power

  • Gotta love plowing in snow when you can, they say thats free nitrogen right there lol

  • @ILCornFarmer After doing some research we are about to pull the trigger on one. We decided on the individual disk in the front. And leaning towards the rolling basket but unsure yet. Looks like your rolling basket is working fine in the snow but maybe it wasn't muddy. Does it do a better job than the drag? We have a JD 9630. The dealer said nobody makes a tractor with enough HP to pull the 13 except for cat/challenger. That sucker must pull HARD. But they do want you going fast.
