Rachmaninov's Moment Musical No. 5 op. 16 in D-flat major played on the Sampletekk 7CG(Yamaha C7) and then the Sampletekk Black Grand(Steinway D). Because the characteristics of each piano are different I recorded these separately(not same midi file). What do you think of these Sampletekk piano libraries compared to the likes of Ivory, Galaxy, Garritan, Alicia keys?

  • How did you get the picture to appear? Mine doesn't show that

  • @Onetruthrgv

In Kontakt 4 go into the instrument settings by clicking on the wrench and use the script editor in the instrument. In script editor click "edit" below bypass and preset. Paste this command in:

    on init make_perfview set_ui_height_px(320)

    end on

Then in instrument options select a "skin bitmap". Browse to a folder where you have an image you'd like to use.

This may only work in the full version of kontakt 4.

    Thanks.

  • @bostonmoores what site did you get your picture from?

  • @Onetruthrgv

I just did a search for images in the public domain for those pianos.

  • @bostonmoores Do you have to do this stuff every time to get the image? Cause I got the image but when I restart Kontakt Its no longer there when I open the library

  • @Onetruthrgv

Sorry - you need to resave the instrument in Kontakt. That will keep the settings.

  • @illiustrope Hi, I don't do anymore processing in Kontakt afterwards. Thanks!

  • 7CG sounds a lot more present and richer, while the Black Grand recedes into the recording space a little more (more ambience). Not really a fan of the Black Grand here, but very often some pianos lends themselves better to certain types of music.

I've also heard SampleTekk's PMI Steinway D which, with a great reverb setup, sounds excellent (but lacks enough velocity layers).
