to ourhero100... keys poem was not adopted as our anthem until the thirties. not to mention how often that fourth stanza is even used. the only reference to god in the pledge wasnt used until 1954. How does this have anything to do with the founding of the nation?
to ourhero100... this country was founded on freedom and equality not relgion.Maybe religious had their part to play nut our government was still set up as secular not religious and there is nothing in our constitution to lead one to believe otherwise
please read our constitution, our pledge, our national anthem where it says "Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust" and also read a penny.
So how is this country not founded on god may i ask?
To ourhero100... all historians and anthropologists agree that marriage actually came befor religion so your arguement is invalid. and even if religion did found marriage it willingly gave it up the second it let the state regulate ir
what needs to happen is every church from every religion needs to be taxed. Im talking stiffly maybe like 50%. then maybe religion will begin to lose its hold

However, I still want the RIGHT to marry a woman.
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust" and also read a penny.

And this country was founded upon religion so they gave up nothing by putting it into state regulation.
