Thats absurd. A goat cannot give consent for marriage, a gay person can.

Besides, this "definition" you speak of is still unconstitutional. You talk of gay marriage as if its totally different than straight marriage. But in reality, it isn't. To the state, the obligations, privileges, and duties are the same in both gay and straight marriages. There are no assigned gender roles, therefore the difference is indistinguishable. So, things like Prop 8 violate the 14th amendment.

Marriage has always been about choice. While straight men and women are granted choice of who they marry, gays are restricted from marrying those of their choosing; gays are discriminated based upon on their gender. Which, under the 14th Amendment, is illegal.

No, it's a show of insecurity. When you are militant about getting others to agree with you, then the other person feels that they are more right because others now think as they do and they must then naturally be correct.

*Laughs* You obviously don't know about arranged marriages.

No one is allowed to marry just anybody. There are straight people out there who would like to use marriage for its legal benefits by marrying someone of the same sex, it isn't gays alone who are restricted in that respect. And the 14th Amendment says nothing about marriage.

But the 14th Amendment mentions nothing about marriage, or rights. It only talks about "privileges", and it's very obvious from the wording of the Amendment that it was meant to apply strictly to voting in elections, not religious institutions like marriage, which cannot be rights by definition.
