This was an excerpt of the Water World Series which we made for broadcast by Carlton Television in 2001. Featuring, Stokie @ The Canal bridge Stores, Hilmorton Rugby, (Grenville) John Chard & Brioni Sharman,Colin Knibbs, Dale Howlett aged 11, now owns a company called Dales Model World.
Stokie is a 72 feet long steel narrowboat, built by John Pinder in 1992 for the Late Dave Sharman and Brioni Sharman.
Following Daves passing, tanks were installed into the boats hold, together with a pump for dispensing (selling) diesel fuel to other boats. This complemented the coal sales that we, John & Brioni had been running since 1995.
In 2009 we sold Stokie on to someone else. We have regretted it ever since.
Regretted because until we sold her, we hadn't realised how important the boat and the life on the water was to us.
