Crowd at the opening for Daniel Nicoletta's Photo Show More Glitter -- Less Bitter. The show runs June 4-July 10, 2010, with a Q&A scheduled June 5.
The show covers Danny's career as a photographer from 1975, when he worked at Harvey Milk's Castro Camera to the present.
The show includes a sections of historical photos of Harvey Milk and friends, and an adjacent wall of photos from the Gus Van Sant film Milk, including some that capture real people and those that play them, as well as ones that play off the historical figures, such as a photo of Harvey Milk in his clown outfit and one of Sean Penn as Harvey Milk as a clown (in a scene which was cut from the film, but is included on the DVD as a bonus.)
Also included is a large tableau of cast members of the Cockettes revival Pearls Over Shanghai which is a stylistic tribute to Richard Avedon's Andy Warhol and Members of the Factory.
There are also many other photos in the show, which has around 70 pictures in it, including photos of SF's gay community, drag performers, Tatttoo Mike, Miss Kitty Litter Green, radical faeries, Angels of Light, etc.
