@Chrisopia AHAHAHA "priminister"?? You don't know that Prime Minister is TWO words! Priminister is not a word.
I say pri-mary, but that doesn't govern the pronouncing of Primark, after all its a company, they can name it what they like. And tell me where English has ever followed any of the rules it has? Constantly the apparent rules are broken. And lets look at Primitive, according to your logic it should be Prime-itive hint hint...
-
@andreww1979 Um why, since when has english followed rules????? for instance
what about PRIMITIVE, according to that "logic" that is meant to be said Prime-ative... So yeh before giving apparent logic you should check other words, And considering this guy thinks that Prime Minister, is Priminister, which is retarded!! The company can say it how they want.

@chubeviewer Premark is the right way to say it... I know some people from Northern Ireland and the proper way is Premark and pi-mark sounds stupid
-
thank god my friend kept saying premark and annoying me i said the exact same thing to him and he ignored me hes so ignorant
-
The Irish are wrong in pronouncing it pree-mark. If you are right about the owners calling it preemark they are idiots who should have spelled it differently.
-
Yeah, but only in the south of Ireland. Northern Irish people didn´t just decide to pronounce it Pree-mark, they had the pronounciation dictated to them by the company itself, so they can´t be accused of mispronouncing it.
-
well fair enough dat part is true i will give u dat but were r u from? im takin a guess and sayin england well it seems funny that da only ppl who say it lyk pry-mark r from around that area and the place it actually originated from is ireland and every1 ive came across there say it pree-mark
-
I always try to avoid saying Primark. I hate the place.
My mum calls it "Preemark" though, and so do hundreds of other people I've heard say it.
It's personal preference, as it's not a real word - it's just a brand name.
People say and spell my name wrong all the time. Just put it down to human ignorance and get on with it :-)
Cool vids mate.
-
i work at primark on tills all the time
-
Preemark is sometimes sounded as such by welsh, scottish and irish accent
-
No one says Mahll...
Besides, it's a fecking shopping centre if you're not in America.
It's preee mark, just because I said so. :]
-
I worked in Primark and i call it pre-mark!
well assholeyou r clerly not irish, and Primark has came from ireland where it pronounced Pree-mark bcus the owners called it Pree-mark so if the owners call it that then i wud think they would know how to pronounce it

The owners of the stores i've ever visited would say Pri-mark, it is a possible tomato tomato scenario where both are acceptible, all I am saying is when you break the word down, Pri means first, and depending on how you pronounce Primary, Priminister or even Private, will also depend on Primark, that's all I am saying...

For the record....the reason why people in Northern Ireland pronounce it "Pree-mark" is because the company itself released a series of well known tv ads in N. Ireland (not the south of Ireland) during the 80s in which they had a jingle that clearly pronounced it "PREE-mark",...leaving the people of N. Ireland no other choice but to assume that the company knew how to pronounce it's own name. Why this company calls itself "Pri-mark" in England is a mystery.

Yet, they still call it Penneys in some regions?

Wow, not a good start when you pronounce pronunciation wrong! It's pronounced "pro-nuhn-cee-ay-shun"!

haha very true... I tend to make some words up based on the same logic, e.g. you Pronounce things, hence I just add -ation to the end to get Pronounc-iation... as in Pro-noun-ciation. The word Noun, meaning general words (as well as Noun meaning a naming word) - for some reason was transformed into Nun, as in the religious type...
pro - "outwards" announce - "message or messenger"... you see I dont pronun words, and hence why I cant pronunciate pronunciation...
