I also think unless Iran's current regime is toppled from the inside, we have put ourselves in a geographical position to be able to deal with them if they become hostile. (Again, if our politicians would quit screwing around in Iraq, this would be more feasable.)

I'm starting to think that Chaos was actually what was desired by the neocons, not a new democracy or stability. Chaos for there & here.

They have already stated their intent towards Israel, that they should be "wiped off the map," and regardless of your feelings concerning the Jewish state, I think that we can agree that Iran shouldn't be attacking innocent civilians.

The death of our national credibility most likely happened in the early 90's, with the Blackhawk Down incident, the unanswered bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, the first WTC bombing, and the capitulation to the U.N.'s utter ineffectiveness with Darfur, which we swore would never happen again... And yet it goes on today.

I'm not saying that we ought to be global policemen,but we are being made into Bobbies by the U.N.: All bark and no bite. If we're going to use our military, (and I believe that we should to protect ourselves and our allies) then we should use it in a decisive way, and not when the U.N. says so.
