Managing unauthorized access to firearms, particularly KIDS. Just some basic tips about securing firearms so that only YOU have access to them. Not a comprehensive safety video; I will follow up later with my take on other safety issues.
Safety Note: Also, In my effort to emphasize how securely a good trigger lock secures a handgun, I pretty much state that even with a round chambered, the gun would be virtually "unshootable." That's about the truth, but I think most experts would advise us to absolutely NOT put a trigger lock on a pistol if the gun is "cocked&locked." Could be dangerous messing around with the trigger lock near the trigger, depending on whether it's a revolver or a semi-auto. Your decision, of course.

  • 'that's a nice little table.

  • mr.hickok45, i enjoy your videos and turn to them often for info on firearms. I respect your open minded opinion. your advice on "satisfying a childs curiosity" is exactly how i bring up my children, and is exactly how i was brought up around firearms. It was reassureing that a knowledgeable person like yourself shared the same opinion. I feel better! thank you.

  • @ryantwiggsmith909 thanks bud!

  • @macwhite4265 let her shoot a .22

  • my 7 yr old little girl really wants to learn to shoot. She really dont want to shoot a airsoft she wants to learn with a real gun. And all i have is a G23 and Mossburg 500. That MB 500 is totally out the question. but do you think the G23 is to much to let her shoot?( with me holding her and guiding her hands and fingers during the shoot of course.)

  • Good video, never hurts for all of us to take a fresh look at our own gun safety practices. I agree with your satisfying a child's curiosity, (removeing the lure of the forbiden fruit), and have always practiced this with all my children. Nothing is as important as keeping our children safe. Thanks for addressing a very important subject.

  • @thomasdp97 depends on the type of gun/position of the trigger. i have just outta curiosity attempted to dry fire a gun with one and if the trigger is far enough forward and with a hair action you can get it to go off.

  • @USMC4056 allright ok thx! :)

  • @thomasdp97 it goes through and around the trigger guard. Its a reliable setup.

To tell you the truth I didn't even know about those boxes I just use the guard and a lock-box that's secured to the floor using 3, 1/4 inch, 6 inch long lag bolts. In which case you would need to demo the house to get the box picked up
