@pobinr Sadly, everything you said here is true. That's why America always had a poor educational system. But still, there are many educated Americans who see the truth. Regarding what Truman did, I guess you also have to understand the context in which he did it. I guess the French were more important at that time for the US than Vietnam.

The war had nothing to do with helping the French - that is absurd.
All the Americans cared about was looking after their own interests just as they do now - they have had a policy of imperialism and perpetual war driven by the military industrial complex since Kennedy was assassinated.
US was a great nation but now it is worse than the old British Empire and is suffering the blowback from decades of criminal acts

@Nucci604 Well, do you have any idea why Truman did what he did? It was indeed a stupid mistake not helping the Vietnamese install a democratic government in there. If he had made the right choice, then America wouldn't have had to worry about that country at all. It would've been your ally. How did Ho Chi Minh become a communist anyway? How did he get from wanting a capitalist regime to ruling over a communist country?
