  • I am sat with the guy (Doug Mathews) who designed the game all those years ago for scanitron. He is quite amazed that people can still remember the game and are still talking about it! He also did 'Tracksuit Manager' for Commodore/Spectrum.

  • This game was insanely addictive, and I spent many months, maybe even years playing it. I still look back and think it was quite advanced for its time, there was nothing else with the depth of gameplay around, especially since they only had 64k to play with.

I remember the publishers offered some leather bound record books, to keep your team history printouts in :D

Did anyone ever buy some of these?

  • i remeber this having crowd trouble in which resulted in fines ( lol - only in the 80;s) and the strangest code anti piracy system - but this was the daddy of all footy manager games at the time - happy days

  • i used to bunk off school to play this game..

  • Remember this one well...Great fun!

  • @Herrmannmann I played this game from 1986 (the year it was first released) right up until 1998! 12 years lol. Fantastic game and quite a difficult game to dominate since you never had any player attributes to work from when buy players and selecting your team. A players wages was about the only idea you had of how good a player was! Brilliant game. I think I'll go download a C64 emulator and play another season for the nostalgia :-)

  • I never played the C64 version, only he Spectrum version. I was addicted to it when I was 11/12. I found a Spectrum Emulator version and still play on it sometimes even though i'm 29. Yes you get Gillingham alot but I preferred getting Fulham. Some great players on, especially Quow at Number 8, guaranteed 30 goals a season but he not got transfer listed when I was an opposing manager!!!

  • Loved this game, but it was sooooooo slow..... plus it never worked on a C64C, it was something to do with the loader.

  • always seemed to end up with Reading, and you had to notify the police of the predicted gate, get it wrong and you get fined. If you can get Sanchez from Wimbledon, buy him,min 50 goals a season

  • why dont you just use winvice and play the game.
