The Johnnys were an Australian pub rock band from Sydney in 1982--1989 that combined country and punk musical styles. Members included founder, Roddy Ray'da (aka Roddy Radalj) and Spencer P. Jones. According to rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, "Despite being one of the most popular bands on the pub-rock circuit, The Johnnys never crossed over into the premier league".

  • I think this is sped up slightly from the album version as it actually sounds closer to Fm, not Em as the chords shown in the chorus would have you believe.

  • @SGMW If it was shot on film at 24fps it Would have to be sped up to PAL 25fps for TV.

  • FANTASTIC I have been putting up with the crappy version of this song from Spanish TV for Sooo long!

  • Great band I love the johnnys from the 80s

  • I remember seeing the Johnny's in the 80s in Collingwood and being covered in baked beans - those were the days....

  • Awesome band. Hoody is still making great music now (Orange County, Cool Charmers etc.)

  • still got the vinyl LP Highlights with the $12.99 price sticker!! From SOUNDS.

  • great band in the eighties ! loved their album Highlights of a Dangerous LIfe. do you recognise Reg Mombassa ( Mentals , Mambo fame ) as the priest in the video clip.

great memories. saw them live at the Floreat in WA 1986 !

  • @camflint Dont remember them but my dad was into that scene (played in bands in Perth in the 80s) so I was brought up with it especially the Church and The Bamboos (he reckons one of the best australian bands ever) I and knew the drummer and keyboardist from the Triffids (lived down the road son went to my primary school)

  • The Johnnys... shit yeah... straight outta the golden age of Aussie rock. Hand in hand with great bands like The Triffids, The Go Betweens, The Stems and The Church.... and anyone out there remember The Bamboos?

  • I say YAY, so does my cat!.
