@SummoningACryptid i remember that. I have never followed Sepultura after max cavalerra left. His new sound in Soulfly, was not my cup of tea. Chaos AD, Arise and Roots, are my personal preferences. Some of the cd's i listened to as a teenager.

@AnimalRepellent Roots was OK, but not an extraordinary album overall. By that time Max started giving up on music [at least ones that truly showed effort and time], and the fall out between him and the band was imminent and unsurprising. I do think they were on to something, but they never quite figured it out.

@SummoningACryptid i liked roots. I think it was dirty.

The instrumentals on this album are fantastic. However, even though I really liked Dante XXI, I lament the fact that Derrick has pretty much done nothing BUT scream and growl since that album. I just think it's a damn shame, when you saw the man could clearly sing really well on Nation and Roorback, in fact he has a GREAT clean singing voice...I just wish he'd do some more of that on the next album. If you can do it, why not? Max screams because he can't sing. Derrick can sing...so....yeah.

@guitar7901 Roots was by far one of their worst albums. I do not particularly like Kairos that much either. Chaos AD and Dante XXI were a hell of a lot better than RBR. I'll even go so far as to say Roorback was better, because they were open to a lot of experimentation. The reason it is advocated so much was because how unwittingly catchy RBR was. Not good, just catchy. By RBR i am sure the group was fucking tired of Max being a pseudo-goddess and were happy when he left so they can breath.
wait, what the fuck? a new sepultura album that's actually good? am i dreaming?
