This is a tutorial for the Neverwinter Nights 2 Electron Toolset. Today's topic is Custom Content: what it is, where to get it, and how to implement it into a game that you are building. During this tutorial we will learn how to edit and create Hak Packs, 2DA files, and TLK files.

Featured Music:
Antoine Dufour - "These Moments"
Empire of the Sun - "Standing on the Shore (Instrumental)"
Kylie Minogue - "Speakerphone (Instrumental)"

  • I have a question: If we've gone to the effort of checking whether the slots in the 2da are available, why, after we copy the placeables in, do we re-number them so that they go from '31xx' to '3001'?

  • @bauldur I took time to have people renumber the document the first time so that people would avoid the offset-line user error no matter which editor they used. The second renumbering was done simply to keep the row line numbers uniform; since the Chess Placeable files did not provide Blueprint files (which you'll see in the next part), we didn't need to worry about keeping them entered on the same row number.

  • @AmphibiousBagel So I guess the next question is WHEN IS THE NEXT PART COMING OUT?! I MUST HAVE IT!

  • Thanks for the detailed tuts. I am an old DnD addict but just now came across nwn and I am excited to start creating my own content. I also use 3d creation software (mostly blender, just got max) and I hope you cover how to import my own 3d content... and best practices for sharing with the community.

    Thanks again!
