This looks really good, though it's very different from what I do when I make soup. I've always just dumped the rice right in, and I kind of like the way it expands. 'Yucky' isn't a word I would use for it, but of course it's just a personal preference of mine. I'll have to try it your way, I think. It looks really easy and good!
