@AK907ALASKA Its probably just because the transmission is cold. its stiff in the cold. Just dont drive it hard or accelerate fast. Driving easy while the engine is still cold will also prolong the life of the car.
@tdub01 Manual transmissions are not ALWAYS more fuel efficient. And in the hands of a good driver, any car can be deadly, or safe, it just depends on how you drive. And it's cheaper to replace breaks than to replace or fix a transmission from engine braking. Plus, if you don't drive like a maniac, you won't be "slamming" on your brakes.
@AK907ALASKA If it's just a rough 1-2 shift when it's cold, as in that's your ONLY issue, then I don't think there's anything you could do about it and it causes no harm anyway. When you start hearing things like slips between gears and lose power to the wheels when you step on it, THEN you know you got an issue.
@gusherb94 Is there any fix to the auto trans problems? my 2010 ford fusion se does the same thing. A rough 1-2 shift when cold, but after i drive around for a bit it smoothes out. I really dont wanna have to trade away my fusion and buy an Impreza, but if the dealer refuses to acknowledge the problem then i will be forced to. Will they fix it if I bring it in? or have they even been able to successfully fix the problem? any feedback is much appreciated =)
@giannial1985 Yeah I got the starter fixed or some part of the start was replaced and then they added a new part to it. Also my gears would kind of stutter but they also fixed that after I got a recall letter
everyone should stop being wankers and buy cars with manual transmissions. More fuel efficient, safer in slippery conditions and saves you loads of money on the brakes you'll be slamming to slow down a car with an auto transmission. Don't be shy.
This car is almost redlining. My 4 cyl 2004 Malibu only revs up to 3000 rpms on hard acceleration.

@giannial1985 My 2006 ford fusion v6 does that to.

@CarbineGuy Fusion SE 6spd manual is rated 22-29 and the SE 6spd auto is rated 23-33 MPG. So that kinda proves your case.
