@looseforward The fact of the matter is that, musicians' and educators' anger won't change that this video is an improper instruction. And he does mention that he uses this technique to teach children.

Why shouldn't musicians and educators be upset when sponsored tutorial videos teach children improper technique, speaking of which, youtube has age restrictions, who said these were intended for kids?

@rayfudge15 I find it fair enough that trombone players that watch this are upset at a completely wrong technique being demonstrated concerning breathing, but I see where you are coming from.

You have to understand; this was a tutorial for unexperienced trombonists. If all of you all are pros, why don't teach the right way to your students instead of wasting time watching "incorrect" tutorials. And if you're not teaching kids this, then why are you watching a tutorial?! You do make yourselves look horrible, all of you!

breathing through your nose...are you sure? who taught you how to play, a cellist?
most importantly, breathing through your nose will not get you enough air fast enough. see how he has to sit there and inhale for literally 5 seconds to fill up his lungs? what about when you only have the space between two sixteenth notes in a passage to breathe?
and secondly, if we're talking about a solo piece, people can hear you breathe through your nose and it takes away from the musicality of the piece.
