slight correction CRT dispalys could do 1080p many years before LCD HDTV's were introduced, HD output has been available to PC users for over 20 years, regular TV CRT displays were typical 480i NTSC and 576i PAL untill HD LCD/PLASMA/LED/OLED displays could output upto and over 1080p (early HDTV's could only output upto 1080i).

@matthunter565 the 'soap opera' effect is when a film looks like its being filmed in a small set, like friends or fraiser or somethin. really makes it look bad.

@matthunter565 I try and explain the 'soap opera' style effect to people as the difference between televisions, also looks like the 'behind the scenes' feature on movies footage. It was also the 'movie plus' option on older plasmas, namely Samsung. I personally do not like it at all though. Takes away the movie quality 'cinematic' experience.
Do the LED all do it? Even with the LCD/LED combination? Do you know if it can be switched off? Only ask because plasma could.

@jim191185 Well I dont really see with movies yet since I dont have a blueray player but it does make a `soap opera` effect if u mean by that it looks like mouvements are more fluid.
Makes a huge differance in Pc gaming for shure if u dont lag when playing (in my case i dont lag so) It looks amasing and make youtube look smoother(depanding on movie quality)

@matthunter565 you have a 120hz? does that give movies a 'soap opera' effect? mines 60hz and its perfect. next gen consoles will need the 120hz though.
so your saying LED's are better?
