Music: "Night Ride Across the Caucasus" by Loreena McKennitt.
Yet another Orlando Bloom remix. This one features characters from Lord of the Rings, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Elizabethtown. Apologies to Loreena McKennitt for butchering her music, and the filmmakers, for lifting pieces of their films.
Read on, if you're interested in the backstory of this video. This was a result of various ideas colliding simultaneously. Besides the obvious, that most of Mr. Bloom's characters wield a weapon, I had an epiphany of sorts while watching a behind the scenes of Kingdom of Heaven. Mr. Bloom was being taught the technique for striking an anvil -- whaddya know, Will Turner's a blacksmith, also! I parked that in the back of my mind.
I got sidetracked when I started to make either the first or third of my Legolas/Eowyn trilogy. This section of video is to portray the transitional period where Legolas, an elf with an infinitely long lifespan, goes through several incarnations while living among men.
I started splicing segments together, and it was evident that this was growing too long to be part of a three minute story montage, so I spun it off to its own minute and a half video.
The premise of the video, as I mentioned before, is that Legolas lives among us, even up to modern day. It's a happy coincidence that the actor, Orlando Bloom has donned so many period costumes that he made it easy for me to present that fantasy in this video.
About the nuts and bolts of video splicing:
The showcase of this piece, I think, is the fade between Paris and Balian. Thanks to the identical closeups by the filmmakers, I just had to do an exact photo resize and crop, match up the eyes, et voila: a Trojan prince becomes a French nobleman, from one frame to the next. It took me a half hour to make the few seconds of clip.
The video rests on a dynamic piece of music that reflects the movement through the ages. The music clip I used is only the preface of Loreena McKennitt's "Night Ride Across The Caucasus." Though you don't get to hear them, the rest of the lyrics seem tailor-made for Legolas:
"Take me with you on this journey
Where the boundaries of time are now tossed
In cathedrals of the forest
In the words of the tongues now lost
Find the answers, ask the questions
Find the roots of an ancient tree
Take me dancing, take me singing
I'll ride on till the moon meets the sea. "
In order to find intersects between the characters, I had to comb through all of Orlando Bloom's movie scenes. Not an unpleasant task, since I like most of the epics, and Mr. Bloom is quite a watchable bloke.
Enjoy!

Why cannot we rate?!

I turned ratings off. I prefer to read written comments, rather than counting stars. Thank you for your comments!

Hey, Pizzaslice, any chance of a redo on this to add Joe Byrne???
Side note: My favorite transition is the Balian to Will - faultless.

Thanks, that's my favourite also. Yes, in addition to Joe, I'd also been considering shoe-horning Jimmy Connelly, Todd Blackburn, and/or Shy. With two LOTR vids in development, this "Journey" waits on the backburner.
