Battle of Brandywine Creek

After landing from his transport ships on the American coast, Major-General Sir William Howe led the British troops eastwards, with the intention of capturing Philadelphia.

In preparation, American General George Washington readied most of his units to defend from this frontal assault around the narrow crossing of Chad's Ford on the Brandywine. The Creek flows through the countryside of Pennsylvania, enveloped by sheer cliffs and heavily wooded hills on both sides. Knowing that much of the fast-flowing creek could not be crossed, Washington was confident of holding his position.

The footage has been captured with Fraps. The graphic settings were pretty much the highest, V-sync and AA turned off. For editing I used Adobe Premiere CS3. The music is from James Newton Howard and part of the Blood Diamond OST.

  • Ok, the biggest problem with your movies is that they don't tell a story. You can kinda see a story on the border of this one, but it isn't there enough. It just ends up being a collection of really cool battle shot. Don't get me wrong, all the editing is great and the camera work is amazing, but a good video will combine those and make a story. Try a voiceover or something so that we know whats goind on.

  • @Jackpwns123 thank you for the constructive comment mate. I'll try to give the next video a more important story. I've actually already got a elaborate story for my current video. it takes 4 pages so far and the idea is to make a voice-over :)

  • @ultrajd They're Hessians

  • Why are there blue coats on the British side?

  • This cool, nice job!

  • This is really awesome! For historical accuracy, the artillery pieces weren't involved in the flanking maneover. The British Calvary units were actually all on foot. They had lost 75 percent of their horses during the long sea voyage around New Jersey and up the Delaware. The only horses you would have seen in the battle would have been rebel officers. Check out "Almost a Miracle" by John Ferling. Sweet video
