whale sharks. they are so graceful. They should be called ballet dancers of the sea.

Great shots. I just visited the Georgia Aquarium earlier this month. I posted a video if you want to check it out.

Extra info: The fishies were delivered from Taiwan in 42 MD-11s, which are big airplanes, with tanks. Shipping was $200,000! As of 2005, only 7 whale sharks are held in captivity (3 in Japan, 4 at the Georgia Aquarium) for reproductive understanding. These sharks are named after characters from "The Honeymooners".

UPS actually delivered them--yes, the one and only United Parcel Service that handles your mail too. All shipping and handling were donated to the aquarium. As to how they got in there... there are special equipment for that.

How the heck they get that fish in a tank in the first place? I'm still trying to acknowladge that they have such a huge animal in captivity!

There's actually two whale sharks in that tank. ;-) They're still fairly small for whale sharks, like 18 and 20ft long, but it's still a big fish. They actually have videos by the large viewing room that show the capturing and transport of them to the facility. I can't remember specifics right now though...
