This was just before the Great Steamboat Race of 2008 in Louisville KY, the calliope duel between the Delta Queen and the Belle of Louisville with Capt. "Doc" Hawley playing "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" and "I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover" on the Delta Queen.

  • Save the DELTA QUEEN! Thank you Captain Clarke C. "Doc" Hawley for sharing your wisdom, your talent, and your love of the rivers with us all. Every single riverman of the steamboats of today owe their career to the pioneers who brought steamboats to this time of our world...for with out Capt Hawley and people like Capt Ernest Wagner we would not have this video...or have had such an experience in our lives! A New Orleans Harbour salute to Capt. Hawley!

  • WE want to keep on hearing it

  • I love it! None of our boats here in Pittsburgh PA do this. :(-wah!

You think they would since paddle boats were big in the 1800's and early 1900's we could have at least 1 that could sing.

  • ive been on better

  • I only wish we had had something like his on the ships I sailed on back in the fifties and sixties, old tramps, all of them. This sound transfixes me.Thank you for the clip!
