This is a variation on a Tuck Toss. Please see my other tutorial "Tuck Tosses and Tuck Toss Turns" to learn a basic Tuck Toss.

Right when I was about to film this, the power went out. Apparently a car hit a pole a block or so down. So it's in low light, sadly, and I messed up and couldn't shoot again because I was losing the light! Hopefully the info you need to learn this move is there and may my mistakes give you permission to make mistakes. Love to you, Caroleeena

  • do you have to be on cement floors or will it work on grass?

  • @julitahooping It can be on any kind of surface. Ideally it shouldn't hit the ground at all. In this, I am using a hoop that is slightly too big and I'm trying to accomodate by lifting the arm more -- with varying degrees of success. So when I hit the ground, it's an accident.

If you know you're going to be hitting the ground, I recommend it being on a smooth surface like hardwood or grass and not gravel or asphalt which can mess up your hoop's tape job.

  • 'goin down the road feeling bad' caroleena.....yeahhhh mamma!!!!!!! oh and great tutorial too! ;)

  • @myarhiannon Thanks for the kind words and, yeah, I love this song! It's one of my favorite Dead songs and always reminds me of summertime!

  • "Give yourself permission to flail" - I love it! That was Malcolm's word, wasn't it? at Hoop Con. This is beautiful as always - and thank god you too occasionally miss.... Love ya -

  • @martamima Yes, Malcolm Stuart penned that beautiful aphorism. I am grateful for it and him. This concept helped me grow a lot as a hooper. I know it will help other people too. Thank you Malcolm!

  • PTF, Ma'am! Thanks for leaving in (and laughing at) all the random bits of chaos. These are the tiny niblets that are so endearing -- and they let me know my progress is spot on. Thanks for the Tuck/Toss tutorial. Yer a Peach!

  • What a beautiful video!! I love your mistakes. =) I love that you left them in the video. A million =) from me!!!

  • Great move, Caroleeena! I'll have to try it next practice session.
