  • You are paying attention! A chemical will have a very specific retention time, analysis after analysis, day after day. Identification has to be based upon comparison with known compounds. GC never actively identifies anything. It is not an easy concept.

  • How do you know which peak belongs to what component in the mixture?

  • good, but what about the stationary (liquid) phase? showing adsorption from the gas into the liquid, and revaporization?
