Here it is - my second attempt at a homemade ocarina. Any constructive criticism, especially regarding the size/ shape of the voicing, would be really appreciated!

I'm really sorry about the audio/video sync, I have no idea why it's so bad. I used my webcam for the video and a Zoom H4 for the audio, and somehow the webcam falls behind the audio, and yet finishes way before the audio does...O.o Anyway since it's just a "review" of my oc I didn't bother redoing it.

I think I said everything worth saying about the ocarina in the vid, but if you have any questions about it feel free to ask! Thanks for watching; have a good one.

  • What kind of clay did you use, PLZ TELL !

  • @cinemadnness It was just a low-fire un-sanded white clay, pretty standard stuff. I believe read that a high-fire clay is better for oc making, something about the elasticity of it, but I'd already bought what I have by then so I've never tried it. Good luck!

  • what r the materials u use?

  • @vladrox34 If you look at the 2nd and 3rd most recent episodes of OcTalk! on Docjazz4's channel, I have a little spot where I talk about the tools/materials I use to make ocarinas. Check it out!

  • My curious question is do you make the holes BEFORE you seal the two halves together or after? Because when I do it after, they come out in diameters too thick and I see other ocarinas in nice, thin diameters.

  • @Chichiri520 Hi! I do most of the hole-cutting and tuning after I've temporarily attached the two halves. You pretty much have to do it that way if you want the ocarina to be properly tuned. I usually have to open it back up once to clean it out before I check the tuning a second time and then permanently seal it. If you're holes seem too big, the only things I can think of are that the ocarina itself is too big, or you're not tuning it correctly. Sorry I can't be more help!

  • Not that I could ever have the patience to do this, but the last note on your first octave is a bit sharp.

  • much nicer then the ones I make. that's a great ocarina, considering you aren't a professional at it.

  • you can get a 5 DOLLAR OCARINA AT SKIP'S MUSIC for any of you people who want one!

  • I think it sounds good enough to play. :\

It's pretty good! Continue making more and maybe even have a little store or something. I'd buy some custom ocarinas if I could!

  • blow harder on high notes

  • pause it at 0:52 he looks drunk
