Welfare of Ranaviru families inquired into 20/03/2009

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse inquires into the welfare of families of security members. This is the first in a series of a programme mooted to inquire into the welfare of the families in the District.
He said although the value of the heroic soldiers cannot be measured by money, the void created by them cannot be fulfilled. The Government is preparing suitable livelihoods for their family members, to make them economically sound.
The Defence Secretary crafted the programme to meet the needs of family members of the Security Forces. Accordingly, members of Ranaviru families will be visited with relevant officials. The Defence Secretary had a special meeting with family members at the Rifle Corp Headquarters Camp at Pallekele in Kandy.

President of the Seva Vanith Unit of the Defence Ministry Ayoma Rajapakse, Additional Defence Secretaries Willie Gamage and U. Wickremaisnghe and several officials joined the Defence Secretary in this visit. Family members of soldiers expressed their gratitude for launching such a programme.
