  • I like this but why do they scream? Does that add intensity? Is screaming graded?

  • No ... you scream to give you power ... the energy from screaming can be put into the moves that your performing.

  • @umhumgum ...YOu scream Bcuz u want to act like ur really fighting someone with ur weapon!! If u dont scream the judges deduct points...believe me I knww!! lol

  • HAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • @umhumgum in martial arts screaming is done for a number of reasons. one is that screaming tightens your abdominals, and this gives you tighter, more concise movements. It also FORCES you to breathe after, so it helps you maintain your breath during an intense performance or fight. the final reasons are that in real life situations, it could potentially scare an attacker.

  • @wayofdehfist ^beat me to an explanation lol.

  • @cdanilana lol. he is really getting nervous

  • his mom and dad should b proud....he can totally kick some butt! u go taylor!!!!

  • Buddy in the corner is getting nervous.

  • @umhumgum To answer your question the "Scream" is called a kiai, ki hap, or several other things based on style, national origin, etc. Basically it's a show of spirit, emphasis, and in more practical terms: a way of getting air out of the body to avoid being winded if you get hit in a fight, a way of tensing the body to produce extra power, and a way of increasing one's focus. As for it being graded, that really depends on the organization's rules and the judges.

  • @umhumgum when you "scream" it's partially to intimidate the oponent but it also serves to force an exhalation of air after your strike. when you are kicked after a kip ir a scream, it much harder to get winded then if you have your lungs full of air.
