One of my favorite solos is Floods by Pantera.Probably Dimebag's masterpiece solo in my humble opinion.BTW love the choice of Tornado Of Souls as one of your favs.KEEP IT METAL!!!!!!!!!!

A firm handshake for your No1 choice (though I would've picked Lucretia) and an even firmer one for placing Kirk so high up the list.

David Gilmour proves that you dont have to shred a solo to get a point across. Technical solos are great, dont get me wrong, but you can be simplistic, and straightforward and have an excellent solo too! A lot of bands now a days dont seem to realize that.

The 1st guitar solo in the song Time by Pink Floyd is genius. A very cool and emotional solo if I've ever heard one.

I think it's got more to do with the dynamics of The Unforgiven and where the solo fits in, and how it builds to this grand crescendo and just explodes out of seemingly nowhere. It's the only Metallica solo where if it comes on the radio, I literally tell everyone to shut up and then air guitar to it. I'm not a huge Kirk Hammett fan, really, but that's the only Metallica solo that really sticks out in my mind when I think about them.

Haha, yeah. I hate when the local rock radio station cuts the solo short to allow more play time for other songs, It always ticks me off. I think Kirk Hammett has a lot of cool technical solos, but it's ones like in The Unforgiven that really stick out like you said

The worst is Zep's Rock and Roll. I've heard stations cut out the drum solo at the end. What the hell? How can you dis John Bonham?
