6.15 inch HEI ignition coil spark.

Well, i should have tried to get longer sparks before making my previous video, but oh well.

This is 2 1uf microwave capacitors charged to 2kv all dumped into an ignition coil primary.

There are flashovers everywhere, which i fixed most of them with some transparency film, but they arc over often, too. You can see it happen a few times. I also had to put more oil in the jar as you can see, because the HV wire and gnd where arcing over.

how u switch the caps to the coil? mechanical switch?

are your caps series or parallel with eachother? are you using any resistance to limit the cap charge time? do AC caps store a dc charge just like a DC electrolytic cap?

Now, just get a high power IGBT and some kind of low frequency generator and switch that off and on a few times per second O_O
