From http://www.vf.com Vanity Fair's Dee Dee Myers and Todd S. Purdum discuss the the recent John McCain spoof starring Paris Hilton, the long and nasty road ahead for Barack Obama and John McCain, and the inescapable Jackie O.--Michelle Obama comparisons.

Vanity Fair Contributing editor Dee Dee Myers was the White House press secretary for President Clinton, the first woman to hold that position. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, Todd S. Purdum, who is Vanity Fair's national correspondent. Purdum, who joined the magazine after 23 years with the New York Times, has profiled everyone from Dick Cheney and Karl Rove to John McCain and Barack Obama.

From world affairs to entertainment, business to fashion, crime to society, Vanity Fair is a cultural catalyst that drives the popular dialogue globally. With its unique mix of narrative journalism, stunning photography, and social commentary, the magazine accelerates ideas and images to the world's center stage. With web-only articles, slide shows, videos, and a daily blog, http://www.vanityfair.com brings the conversation online.

Produced by Arya Surowidjojo, shot by Vanessa Bradchulis, Douglas Burnette & Genna Duberstein, and edited by Jonathan Liebling & Russell Waits.

  • For the record, these are not two Republican pundits. Todd is a reporter with no party affiliation, and Dee Dee is a former member of the Clinton administration.

  • Watching this video is about as intellectually stimulating as staring at a lava lamp.

  • lol,..yea the maverick line is corny and old quick. Mccain is as weak and jelatinous as a man can get. He's been pandering to anything and anyone to become president. Now he's acting republican. FAKE. he will change again.

  • ATTENTION: Apparently chevron oil (corrupt American oil company) bought the rights to NiMH battery technology so they could prevent auto manufacturers from using it to build more efficient hybrid vehicles and force us to keep buying gasoline. The name of the company that produced the NiMH batteries used to be Ovionic Battery Systems, but Chevron and Texaco bought the company and changed the name to Cobasys and made it impossible for auto manufacturers to buy the batteries. Search it for yourself

  • who's shooting this video? Too much headroom on the wide shot, tungsten light in a room filled with daylight, out-of-focus cut-away shots... Either Vanity Fair is skimping on the production budget or they're trying to look "YouTube-y".

  • btw, both candidates are trying to position themselves more towards the center rite now. its all about the independents, the undecided voters. although mccain still attacks obama every chance he gets, in typical republican super douchebag fashion. obama will be back to his old self once he's elected (thank god). as for bill i think many democrats are beginning to see his true colors now.

  • "maverick" = corny ... "straight-talk express" = corny. he's gotta let all that go, at least as far as the terminology goes. i used to respect john mccain back in 2000 when he was running against bush for the republican nomination, but he's really changed since then. seems like he "sold his soul" in one last desperate attempt to become president. dude's like Cyber Smoke from Mortal Kombal, the real john mccain's gotta be in there somewhere lol..

  • Lol!

    Well said!

  • I would love to see McBush getting a gold medal there!

  • John McCain also:

    - Fought for the 9/11 commission

    - Fought for the dept. of homeland security

    - Advocated the troop surge in Iraq

    - Fought a $6 Billion Boeing rip-off deal

    Thats a conservative record.
