That is amazing that they come to your whistle! I think it's funny when the dad flew away because their expression was like "Where did dad go? Awe man....we gotta go!"

Do you have any house sparrows around that usurp the bluebirds from their nest?

Sadly, yes I do. I try my best to keep all House Sparrows that land in my yard... destroyed with a flying chunk of lead (pellet). Once you witness what they do in a nest of native birds' young, you will be at war with these thug birds. Because I keep my yard as European Starling and House Sparrow free as possible, the good birds must see that and my yard has lots of action.

I think the young thought that the food was endless and they were learning that Dad left... brother left... Guess we'll go see where the next learning experience is!

Thanks! Sounds like you know just how fun it is to have these in your yard. All I'm doing is feeding them regular... They know where to come for a hand-out, and I get to see them up close !!
