WPSG - 2001 - Paramount Teleplex

A short holiday ID and "Paramount Teleplex" movie open from UPN 57, 2001. The flippy, metallic, and distracting UPN 57 logo and vacuous Roger Rose voiceover date to 2001.

"Paramount Teleplex" was the branding used for movies on all of the Paramount/UPN O&Os, and debuted in 1997 here. Unusually for UPN-type branding, it plays up the Paramount aspect and not the network initials, but mixes in the UPN shapes and colors for good effect.

In 2002, they dumped the Teleplex for the more specific "UPN 57 Weekend Movie", and then started using variations of network graphics. I'm guessing that they did this because UPN was moving away from its original, Paramount-inspired look.

Does it fade out to the movie's beginning or sponsor billboard when the theme stops the piano solo, was there a percussion solo that played afterwards?

I remember being a percussion, maybe it's an abriged version of the original 1997 theme or something?

It fades to black, then the movie (or in some cases, sponsor billboard) begins.

There was a percussion part of the theme, but that might have been just used in bumpers or the "Prime Movie" version.

UPN in Abilene Texas became My Network TV 42. KIDZ Though KIDZ started out as a Fox station until late 2000 early 2001 then UPN was finally available but we missed out on UPN shows due to lack of coverage.

Roger Rose's V/O here is irritating and feels out of place to me. He sounds like the kind of guy they get to try and sound hip and youthful.
