Steve Reich.

The Minimalist composer Steve Reich, who became a major player in the 1960s, celebrates his 70th birthday this year.

Here the man and his music are profiled, with special attention paid to the Daniel Variations, his most recent piece about the murdered American journalist Daniel Pearl and Music for 18 Musicians.

Brian Eno, Michael Nyman and Alex Paterson from The Orb testify to his far-reaching influence.

  • next jewish overrated crap

  • AMAZING

  • @earlobe1997 He's a fan of Daft Punk.. if you think about the lyrics of some Daft Punk songs, it probably came naturally to him to follow a pattern like this one.

  • @Daftpunkfan123

What's the point of writing that so many times?

  • amazing

  • What I've found also, Tuvan throat singing, binaural pitches hints at a binaural receptive mind? two main aspects of our consciousness residing together eg Beta, theta, or Alpha Delta, so maybe four aspects, someone has to do some work in this area as musicians. A quintet multiplying both aspects creates further subtleties..."maybe"?

  • 5:00 moire patterns, same thing in Aboriginal art, if you stare at particular dot paintings by "elders" they talk another language, hinting at higher states of consciousness, always present but not always "seen". Very David Bohm in concept, implicate hidden aspects of the Universe made explicate. Ancient Shamanism covers this also. Good vid.
