SUFFOLK COUNTY — No taxes, but brace for layoffs. That's the takeaway as Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy released his 2012 budget Wednesday. As many as 700 county employees may lose their jobs due to budget cuts. However, Levy said a good chunk of those jobs could be saved if union make concessions on health care. The $2.7 billion fiscal plan also calls for a shutdown of the county-run John J. Foley Nursing Home. The county legislature must approve a new budget in November.
