This is footage taken by an unknown officer aboard the USS Durik between 1944 and 1945. The video was shot originally on 16mm (no sound of course) and at some point transferred to DVD by a low cost production company who attempted to make it interesting but failed. I took the original and applied opening and closing credits as well as all the music scores appropriate to the time that you will hear during the film. No narration is available, however most Navy folks will be able to identify with what is going on in the film.

  • My Dad was on this ship according to a picture I found in my grandmothers photo album.

  • @evickiwilson Outstanding. Your dad and my friends dad did a great service to this country. So glad that officer against Navy Policy filmed some of the escort trips they did. Keep that album, it's priceless. Thanks for finding this video also. JD

  • @jdizzy47 - I sent in a request for information about my Dad to the Veterans Records in St. Louis. I am hoping they can give me his military history. I only have his training certificate and his Naval picture along with a picture of the ship. I watched the video today and one of the crewmen has similar facial features to my dad.

  • @evickiwilson Wow wouldn't that be something. A long time ago. What a great thing that would be to be able to confirm. Good luck with your records search and post back.

  • I love history especially when it has to do with Navy and Marines, thankyou for putting this up. Love the music as well.

  • @TheUSMCDevilPup Thanks I appreciate it. We are forever greatful for those who served during this time and during all periods of US engagements.
