@rockgor It comes from a book called Bruges Le Mort. The story is also similar to Hitchcock's Vertigo

This is a stunning rendition of an aria that is a very difficult one.

Am reading a bio of Korngold. Says the
City of the Dead is not just symbolism. It
was the city of Bruges in Belgium.
Bruge was once the biggest commercial
center in the world. Maybe someday they'll
write about New York as the City of the Dead.

You my friend are a winner!

I agree. Audio Quality plays A HUGE part especially in this youtube videos.
I think he's marvelous and I love the concept

Close to perfect in every way. Nothing bizarre about the commedia troop dressed as a commedia troop, by the way.

WOW!!! What a performance!! The singing, the acting,... everything. If opera was always this good it would bring the masses in. I do not understand the comments below at all, this has everything. The performance is the best that l've seen in opera for years, if not THE best.
Is it available on DVD?

He can do better, heard him in Arabella recently - it was very good. But this is ... stunningly bad!

i think he is a horrible singer:no legato ,no sensitivity,just vanity,AWFUL!
Not the best I've heard Bo, and he isn't my favorite singer, but COM'ON he's a damned fine talent. I think some these naysayers are typical smaller-voiced lied singers who don't know what it takes to project in a huge hall, because they likely can't. The types who called Pavarotti a bad singer. You cant "lied line" over most arias! Also, I dont think the quality of the audio is good enough to actually distinguish what is him having an off day and what part is simple distortion and audio noise.

It's a show that lends itself to that sort of production. You can do it as a straight production or go much more psychological with it. It's just as powerful either way.
As for Bo... he's an excellent singer.
