the Fraser Institute is a right wing think tank and as such is biased against anything that isn't private sector related

As an American I am a little confused by the statement that Canada has a system "both funded and managed" by the government. It was my understanding that Canada provides insurance to its citizens funded by their taxes, then they take that insurance policy and "purchase", for lack of a better word, the healthcare services they need from private providers.

@FIXWCBCANADA YOU ARE BEING DENIED TREATMENT BY WORKMAN'S COMP, NOT THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!
And its weird, on another one of your postings, you claim 28 doctors to diagnose your injury. Could it be that you are FULL OF SHIT!!!!!!!

Canada Health care is third world health care; If you need an operation, good luck getting help, why do you think so many people are forced to go out of country for medical tourism? Why does it take 100 doctors to diagnose a spinal injury? EX; after searching on the internet for a reason for my severe spinal pain, a website fit exactly my symptoms, 5 ortho and 3 neurosurgeons did not investigate my complaints, NOW I AM DIAGNOSED WITH EXACTLY WHAT I SUSPECTED but am being denied treatment?

@tindallpe I don’t mean to be condescending at all. There is availability in the US if you pay for it .That’s great. What is failing is your privately run health system charges your government what ever they choose for services and your bureaucrats just pay the bill(Medicare). Insurance companies have allowed hospitals to bill more as they both agree in a profit margin for health care. .

.I don't trust the Canadian government any more than Americans trust theirs. Maybe we are a little better at keeping them in check....or maybe not .Don’t you have to ask yourselves why you pay almost twice as much per capita , you have deductibles so the companies aren’t even paying out unless it’s major , you have preconditions allowing companies to deny coverage, they cap their payouts at $500,000 or whatever it is, a huge portion of the population isn’t covered

. AND over 50% of bankruptcies in the U.S. are a result of having to pay for health care costs. That is a huge concern for people I would think. We have problems; I’ll admit that but ours can be fixed .We should have more private cliincs..fine . I think Americans are getting screwed by that system. Of course opinions are like…..you know …everybody

@FIXWCBCANADA Wow so you don't have an axe to grind because the wormans compestion board scewed you over . As much as I sympathize with what happened to you in Saskachewan You don't need to slam the Canadian systen because you know you are a bitter bitter peson Our malpractise is a fraction what it is in the US. I think you made the point for the Canadian system by the way you just slammed insurance companies

If "universal" socialized care is so great and cost efficient, then why is the NIH cutting coverage of over 28 Million procedures?
Why are UK/CA taxes so HIGH? You say "free" - doh - for ex: I pay several dollars less for gas (thousands of gal fuel a yr) - so which is cheaper?
Why is private pay clinics doing so well in canada?
GOOGLE "The NHS is planning on extensive rationing of surgery in order to meet budgetary needs." the Wash Examiner
Greece - amputation is cheaper than spec shoes!

Beware Americans of liars like FixWCBCanada, who have an agenda due to their problems with his province's workman's compensation board who are handling his healthcare claims. It has nothing to do with how the rest of us are treated in this country. That is why poll after poll shows Canadians satisfaction of their system at 85%. And not one study shows Canadians dying on wait lists. Why? Because we're not.
Great video! Doing a great job to educate Canadians on the facts...a little competition could be just what the doctor ordered!

Nice work, Matt. You should put together more videos like this. Different topics, same style. Oh, and you really should have interviewed Michael Moore. I think that's a big lacunae in the video...
