USA Hockey breaks down examples of body contact that would be considered legal and illegal, should the body checking rule change proposal pass in June. These clips demonstrate how proper body contact can separate an opponent from the puck and create plays rather than ignoring the puck and focusing solely on the hit.

Jokeful, Why not just pad the boards and use a foam puck while you are at it ... I played D2 college and this is a shame to the sport. I'm only 5'7" and would much rather take a hit then be rubbed up against... Hockey is a rough and tough sport... get over it.

this is fucking pussy hockey. every fucking parent had a choice to put their kids in bodychecking or bodycontact. It was their fault if they got injured. This is so bullshit

This is absolutely ridiculous this is a terrible idea if you can't handle playing a physical sport like hockey go play something soft like soccer we should be doing the opposite teaching our kids how to check at the squirt level so when there older and bigger and can actually do damage and hurt somebody they know how to check correctly hockey is on the rise in America and if we do this we will never be able to compete with other nations down the line terrible idea hope it fails.

Keep in mind that the checks in the video were all legal checks at the time. Specifically the PW games they show.

The program is developed to keep the players safe. SAFETY for all the players keeps it fun. Teach angeling, stick checks, and the game of hockey and we teach our CHILDREN to play agresive, fast hockey as they get older. It might teach them to respect the rules and maybe even their parents.

because in pewee there were lots of hits and injuries checking is still allowed for kids over 12 where they can start to take injuries better.A great player on my team last year took a check broke his leg and basically missed the entire season and was really bummed out. :-(
