@DarkBluRaven48 You confuse joy with ecstasy. Your argument is poor. You still want to do what YOU want to do: listening to music which does not honor God - even the lyrics claim so. Happiness in Christ has nothing to do with wild and wordly behaviour. We're living in the very end times. Christ is coming soon, so we should be prepared for His return and not do what we want.

@MarkOpee1 Romans 12 1-2 is talking about not getting caught up in the world and not living to please ourselves As for rock, and this song, does it focus on God and the blessings he's given us? Yes. To be sober is to be serious and we should take God seriously but God is a God of joy and He wants us to be happy Trials may come, u take those soberly, but God's unspeakable joy, a synonym for ecstatic is overjoyed btw, comes in the morning. If you respond to this comment I wont reply so dont bother

@PetraFan97 part 2: to rewrite secular songs does not eliminate the origin version which everybody knows. And the money for the copyright of the original song goes to the authors. But the most importatnt fact is, that it is a disobedience to God's Word in Romans 12,1-2. We should fear God more than we do currently and cast out everything of our life which is a contardiction to His Word. I didn't say anything against the use of electric guitars. You can also play sober music with it. Most do not

@PetraFan97 This is atypical postmodern statement. Of course the Bible tells not what you mentioned in detail. It speaks about sobrietey. Apostle Paul did not use pagan music nor exstatic rhythm pattern of the Dionysos cult (comparable to Rock N Roll). If you were more familiar to the Bibles meanings you would look more for the context and not wif there is any phrase. The Bible also does not speak of machine guns or atomic bombs but says: don't kill"! So the Bible says "be sober".

@MarkOpee1 umm.... you're still incorrect. don't ever take someone elses word for anything, 2 Tim 2:15.

I remembered the first time I saw Petra. They came to my church, North West Assembly of God. They shocked so many of the elders with the vibrations of thier music. I personally thought the whole building was going to fall. I was hooked then and find myself still listening 27 years later.
