Great explanation as to why the constellation Ophiuphus is just a constellation and NOT a Zodiac Sign. Astronmers are trying to add an extra Zodiac Sign to the Astrological Chart and that extra Zodiac Sign is not needed and never will be needed because these are two totally different sciences. Very Simple Explanation .....

@CayelinCastell with this one I agree and to go even farther I will say that no planet in the sky accompanied by it's symbolic meaning and it's position on the sky at a certain date won`t tell anyone about him or her personality traits.

@xncosmo what you are proposing here isn't the way Shamanic Astrology approaches the astrological mysteries. Some may but we don't...it is more about the direct shamanic experience and that varies for each person. In fact the things that sit next to each other are often more different than could possibly be explained in this short space.
-
@CayelinCastell now we agree on the subjectivity, which doesn't prove anything still. The problem is this one: we give meaning and symbols to different things, then, anything that sits next to a thing MUST also inherit the attributes of that thing and this is the `logic` of astrology.
First we have a set of attributes, then, we assign those attributes to things without having any relation with one another. This is what astrology does. We have a pencil that sits on a prison cell therefore is ugly

@xncosmo The Course In Miracles lesson one says, “Nothing I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] means anything.” Lesson Two says, “I have given everything I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] all the meaning that it has for me.”
This goes for everything even what we consider logical. Basically the world is what it is because we agree that this is the way it is. When we change our perception our experience changes too...

@xncosmo Shamanic Astrology has a different way of approaching this that I don't have time or space to get into here. And...something to consider from the Course in Miracles that also goes beyond logic is reason are from the first two lessons...I will post separately. It basically turns this whole conversation into having meaning only because we have given it meaning...just like we have given our symbols and myths meaning as a way to engage this middle world reality.

@CayelinCastell I say we stick to our object. I will repeat myself and say: Mars is red, red is a symbol for power, for action, aggression. When someone is born, planet Mars is placed on the Leo segment of the circle. Leo is the symbol for power, dominance, leadership. Having this, that person will express himself energetic, with leadership qualities, powerful, dominant, willful. Can you call this a sound logical argument to characterize a person along with using the other planets and symbols?
-
@xncosmo second part here is that I couldn't agree more that Mars is NOT necessarily a symbol of aggression. Archetypally we see it as the masculine principle that can manifest in many ways including warrior yes but also artist, father, grandfather, teacher, spiritual guide, and so much more...
-
@xncosmo Oh...I think we might have a different definition of symbols and myths and maybe be talking about two entirely different things. I am inspired by the great works of Joseph Campbell who tracked the archetypal patterns in myths, along with Carl Jung who did his own remarkable work around this... and how those archetypal patterns grow and evolve into our current day experience. This is the sense of correspondences and synchronicities that can defy logic...miracles often defy logic too...
On August 10 an important date in my life 5 years ago I find there have been 1313 views of this video on why there are NOT 13 signs. How cool is that?
