Naemet Mokhtar belly dancer 1959

This clip is from the 1959 film Hassan wa Naima (Hassan and Naima) starring Soad Hosny and Moharram Fouad. The dancer is Naemet Mokhtar. Moharram Fouad plays the role of a wedding singer named Hassan who is in love with Naima (played by Soad Hosny) however, her father will not allow her to marry him because he is a singer. In this scene, Hassan has been hired to sing at a wedding, and Naemet Mohktar has been hired as the wedding dancer. Meantime, Naima is sitting at home thinking about Hassan and feeling sad because she has been grounded by her father who will not allow her to leave the house, lest she meet up with Hassan.
This song in this clip is called El Helwa, and it is one of Moharram Fouad's most famous songs.

Wish there was more Na'met Mokhtar out there on video, she was one of the best dancers of that era, shame she isn't known that well nowadays.
