1st, the pressure point technique wont work. Not because it doesnt hurt, but because NO ONE is just gonna sit down/still & let you dig your elbow into their clavicle. 2nd, the choke is not a cobra choke, its a variation of a head and arm triangle. If I was him I would discuss proper placement to make the choke the more effective. 3rd, the last position @1:10 and @1:24 he shows wontshoke someone. It will give the guy on the back ability to control the guy in the front, but it wont choke him.
@ohwowlookout its about mutual respect for others in the same art. You cant really talk shit about everyone who does a style that you dont like cause even someone from that style can whip ass. Its not an argument tma-ers use but its a fact of life. Bruce lee did wing chung and hes an amazing martial artist. Brazilian jiu jitsu comes from an older art. Its not the style its the person. Its like saying if you play rock guitar you suck and if you play jazz guitar youre good. its not the style..
@reaperofgenocide Well that's where we disagree. TMAers are still stuck on mystique and that puts blinders on them. Just because someone does something that they call a martial art doesn't mean we're buddies or friends. Just because someone shows up once a week to their dojo and gets their promotion when their check clears doesn't mean I should respect them as a "martial artist". And just because my "art" is a sport doesn't mean that it's only effective as a game like most TMAers like to say.
@gabrielsburg Magalhaes and Werdum are both amazing grapplers. That's like saying boxing is too ineffective because Foreman couldn't knock out Ali. Do you think it would take them more than 30 seconds to destroy some guy in a street fight?
Better some grappling than none. But if you get a chance, go to a BJJ school. Find out for yourself just how it is to roll with a blue or purple belt or higher in BJJ. It's a world of difference.
@ohwowlookout you know WHY? cause the same guy that learns kyokoshin karate and the same guy that learns traditional muay thai both are there for the SAME REASON. To learn more about the art of combat. I agree i cant stand the "choreographed attack teachers". I have the same views as you about bull shit TMA-ers who wont show you how to survive on the streets. But their still martial artists.. were ALL family. Thats the point in trying to get across. We should be united.. not arguing with another
@reaperofgenocide 3- So why should I have respect for bullshit martial arts? Because they call it a martial art? The techniques are weak. I appreciate casual BJJers more than choreographed attack teachers. At least they get a taste of what full contact competition is, even if it's once a week or even once a month.
It's why you don't see BJJ gyms in every shopping center like you do other TMA's. BJJ is just too damn hard when you train hard. .Just like Judo, wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, etc.
@reaperofgenocide 2-.. does. I do it on a daily basis to fully resisting people who are as skilled as I am. Against someone not trained in BJJ, it's like a hot knife thru butter. Few "arts" teach effective takedown defense. Fewer still teach submission defense. Most people aren't skilled. It's not a crap-shoot. It's more science than art.
Yes, I compete very regularly and at an ever increasing level. Had I the time and money, I would make Kimura look lazy. I don't, but I still work very hard..
@ohwowlookout well thats my point. You were making something that regularly happens sound like its the most brutal thing ever. As i said right now you arent saying anything new or informative. I know that already as i stated. I already stated we train in a gym which is a controlled environment and that bjj CAN work on the street. Im agreeing with you on that. I dont agree with the method you use to get your point across which is criticizing other ppl and being a arrogant egotistical person.
this not cobra choke, is rear neck choke, and u gotta block the legs first
