Is comedy scared of offending Islam?

Comedian and writer Ben Elton has said the BBC is too "scared" to broadcast jokes about Muslims for fear of provoking radical Islamists.

Elton, in an interview with Christian magazine Third Way, added that the broadcaster would "let vicar gags pass but would not let imam gags pass".

Ian Coley - where do you live and how many muslims do you know? Firstly, Islam does not preach war against the West, a few bearded Mullahs might - don't confuse the religion with 'a few bad apples'. Secondly, don't blame some Muslims for not wanting to integrate with people who villify them such as your good ignorant self and thirdly, if you want to stop fearing Islam and Muslims, I suggest you actually speak to them without pre-conceptions.

Perhaps watch "Undercover Mosque". Or maybe just open your eyes - a poll shortly after 7/7 showed that 13.6% of the country's 1.6 million Muslims supported the mass slaughter of innocent women and children in the bombings. That's 217,600 people who would murder their hosts if they could.

DEAFENING SILENCE of the moderates. yes, it is because of the acts of violence done by muslims around the world, using scripture as their justification,but if ordinary muslims were publicly &in large numbers criticising and marching to demonstrate their rejection of what the radicals are saying &doing, then the non-muslim majority would have something in their minds thats countering the radical image.

if muslims dont SPEAK OUT, people will wonder if there is any distinction 2B made

What are muslims who scare people trying to accomplish? Don't they realize if someone is scared of you - they don't generally like you. This is what christianity used to be, saying "rock 'n roll is bad" etc and threatening the media. But now what? Some religions are more mature about it i guess.
