@towrecker Thanks....that will be my next route to go on line if I ever need AC parts again. I worked as an AC Tech for 5 years even took my EPA test to buy Freon. Now I can’t even buy AC parts or tools unless I’m a licensed Contractor. I just hate to go and get a contractor licenses just to buy parts and work on my own sh!t.

@MsH1h1h1h1 just ground it out , and you will be safe , after grounding it is safe to touch , and just toss it in the trash , it is harmless after you ground it , unless you put power to it again , it will stay dead ...
-
@towrecker can you wear gloves to better protect yourself? how do you dispose it?
-
@MsH1h1h1h1 I would not touch one after 10 years with out grounding the terminals in all combinations , quick , easy , and neutralizes the threat of any harm , some are wired to bleed down in just seconds , some are not , some the compressor , and or fan will bleed them down on shut down , some don't , so ground it out , expect a pop and arc , it may or may not , just be prepared , and short it for safety sake

@towrecker be polite dude. I am not in the domain. but I have a question to you. how long the power should be off for the capacitor to become completely empty? what if I shut it off for a week?
-
@MsH1h1h1h1 I seem to think you are nothing more than one of the rip off hvac guys , hoping someone reads your comment , and calls you so you can make more money when they can easily fix it their self !! now proceed to shut up and leave , this video is for the people not afraid to get their hands dirty , and most likely built their own house , or the family that is very low on money and can't afford your $150 + parts crap , they might even have a hard time finding $20 to buy a cap and install it

@MsH1h1h1h1 and hidden and waited for them to come , watch them , and videoed them doing nothing , but saying they did , hard to place gas in a unit that is at correct charge , and hard to dispense from a tank they never opened the valve on , a capacitor , or a contactor are two items that a home owner can do with basic knowledge of electricity , and most the time you can tell they are bad by looking at them , why should they pay $200 to fix it when they can do it their self for $20 ????
-
@MsH1h1h1h1 they check them for you alright , the look at it thats about it , and most will carry their gauges and a tank of gas to the unit , hook it all up for show as you the home owner has no clue what they are doing , and all they did was nothing , they say "had to put a pound of gas in it " and that $100 check up just went to $200 , most companies rip you off this way , I am a pro in this field , and have set up these so called check ups at customers homes after I fixed a unit ...continued
My capacitor mushroom up like that, I just went out and got a new one for 22.53 and fixed the problem, but it’s getting harder to buy them from the distributing company since they told me that they will longer sell them to home owners. They only sell them to Licensed Contractors.
