The other day my OT told me I had "cubital tunnel syndrome" in my right arm. So, along with mastering left hand typing, I have written some new strange and interesting little songs. Due to my injury, these latest works are coming out much "simpler sounding" than some of my previous tunes. Crazy what a numb arm can do to your music!!
I wrote and recorded this song on my parents piano and because the top half of the piano is badly out of tune, I decided to keep the entire song in the lower half. I also wanted to explore a deeper sounding vocal register. This makes it a little tricky to hear what I'm saying, so here are the lyrics. BTW - this is a work in progress.
I CANNOT BE IN LOVE
night time
the air is colder
my arms are weaker
they say i'm old now
madness
seeps through my window
in to my mouth
and it taste like splinters
I cannot be in love
I cannot be in love
sailor
send me up stream, boy
where i'm alone, boy
with all of my screams, child
cut me
in to pieces
and hang me
like i am dead meat
I cannot be in love
I cannot be in love
c'est la vie to love
i cannot be in love
cannot go any further
ignoring my encore
pretending there's no more
i cannot be in love
i cannot be in love
c'est la vie to love
i cannot be in love (with you)...
Sorry to hear about your injury. This latest piece has a slightly different but great sound! Love your work.
